Mission Statement

To provide a challenging and rewarding environment for the development of students and faculty, one that enables important contributions to the professional community and the Software,Aerospace,Aeronautical and Real Time engineering discipline.

The Embry-Riddle University/HUMS Project was started in the year 2005. The center is designed to involve students and faculty in software engineering and Aerospace engineering research by engaging industry sponsored projects. The partnership between the Federal Aeviation Administration and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has been established through the implementation of HUMS in the year of 2005.

The program’s vision is to advance Embry Riddle Aeronautical University’s leadership in the field of safety critical software intensive systems. FAA partnership allows for valuable industry feedback. This feedback is used as a means to measure the viability and success of the program’s mission: to facilitate the professional development of both students and faculty.

The research conducted provides faculty and Students with valuable information to taken both back to the Research environment, as well as transmitted back to FAA through Information exchange programs.

This program provides full FAA Research Assistantship and FAA Fellowship opportunities for selected Embry Riddle Aeronautical University prospective or current Masters Software Engineering students and Aerospace Engineering Students.

The student researchers are given the opportunity to explore topics that they would not learn in class. The students are encouraged to develop their own research focus, with the FAA of their faculty advisor. The students are also encouraged to have their work professionally published, and to present their findings at conferences. This exposure both increases the level of technical maturity of the students and provides positive public expose to both Embry Riddle and FAA.
